Christie Fritz Bio

Christie Fritz is a Teacher of the Deaf/HH (TOD) with 30 years of experience in the field of deaf education. She started her career teaching students who are Deaf/HH ages preschool-grade 12 in first in South Dakota, then in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, and Wyoming before joining the Wyoming Department of Education’s Deaf/HH Outreach team. Christie currently serves as the Early Childhood consultant providing technical assistance in the area of hearing loss to child development centers across the state.

Christie holds dual B.S. degrees from Minot State University in Elementary Education and Deaf Education, a post-graduate credential from the University of Wyoming in Special Education, and a Masters of Education Degree in Communication Disorders, with an emphasis in listening and spoken language and parent coaching, from Utah State University.  Additionally, she holds an Advanced Plus rating on the Signed Language Proficiency Rating Scale (SLPI). Christie serves as a member of the TASK-12 National Board and as one of the founding members of the Wyoming Early Intervention Initiative (WEII). In her spare time, Christie enjoys spending time with her family (both human and animal), being outdoors in the sunshine, hiking, camping, photography, and completing never ending home remodeling projects.
