Kimberly Sanford

Kimberly Sanford brings over three decades of experience and a commitment to her new role as the Wyoming Department of Education Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Supervisor within the Special Education Programs Division. In this capacity, she is honored to collaborate with the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) Special Education Team, continuing work to empower districts and families in supporting students with disabilities across the state. Her unwavering goal is to ensure all students achieve their potential and lead healthy, productive post-secondary lives.

Kim’s professional journey began thirty-two years ago, after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida and completing special education certification coursework. She honed her skills teaching elementary students with learning disabilities in Florida before relocating to Jackson, Wyoming, where she taught at the elementary level for six years, teaching third and fourth grades. Her commitment to Wyoming’s educational landscape deepened in Worland, where she dedicated twenty-four years to education. During this time, Kim served as a high school special education teacher and special education department chair for a decade, followed by fourteen years as the district’s special education director. Her leadership was further recognized through her tenure as president of WASEA, The Wyoming Association of Special Education Administrators. Kim was also awarded the Wyoming Special Education Director of the Year award in 2022 and 2023.

Committed to continuous growth, Kim pursued further education at the University of Wyoming, earning certification in English as a Second Language. She also holds a Master’s degree in Elementary and Secondary Administration from South Dakota State University.

Having recently relocated to Dayton, Wyoming, with her family, Kim enjoys the state’s outdoor offerings, including hiking and fishing. She also cherishes time spent with her husband and children, who are currently attending the University of Wyoming, and enthusiastically cheers on Cowboy football and basketball. Go Pokes!
